Sun shines on PV Feed-In Tariff Law!

CCSA have previously applauded the Government for broadening the PV Feed- In legislation to include small businesses, community groups and NGOs to make the scheme as widely applicable as possible. Extending the scheme to twenty years will give both industry and consumers the confidence and certainty they need to invest in solar photovoltaic PV systems. This will have enormous practical potential to reduce our peak power demands as the peak in solar power generation nearly exactly matches the peak demand for electricity at the end of the day Mr Danenberg explained. Over twenty overseas jurisdictions have introduced solar feed-in tariff schemes and if their experiences are any guide, the PV-feed-in tariff scheme here will stimulate considerable interest and investment in solar PV systems. The end result will be a drop in our greenhouse gas emissions, a big incentive to switch to renewable energy and a reduction in our dependence on coal fired power Mr Danenberg said. Its a win for the environment, a win for the renewable power industry and a win for all South Australians he added. CCSA is now calling for the Federal Environment Minister Peter Garrett to follow South Australias lead and ensure that PV feed-in tariff legislation is introduced across Australia concluded Mr Danenberg. Release Ends.
