SA Renewable energy industry on the critical list

South Australia's renewable energy industry has boomed in recent years, creating jobs and investment and positioning South Australia as the country's clean energy leader, said Greenpeace energy campaigner Mark Wakeham. However, that's all grinding to a halt and the state risks losing billions of dollars of future investment without government action.

Last month Tasmanian company Roaring 40s announced it would abandon its $250 million Waterloo windfarm near Clare and would instead develop projects in Victoria where the Bracks government is planning to introduce a legislated renewable energy target. This is just the first South Australian renewable energy project that will disappear without a legislated target. Why is the Rann government waving goodbye to $250 million worth of investment in South Australia without a fight?
