Federal leadership needed to protect our iconic species

But given the State of the Environment Report 2006 conclusion that biodiversity continues to be in serious decline in many parts of Australia, clearly more needs to be done.

CCSA and its member groups call on the Federal Government to play a strong leadership role in protecting our countrys natural assets, said CEO Julie Pettett.

With the added pressure of climate change, our species need all the help they can get if they are to survive into the future. The EPBC Act is the best way to achieve that protection, and this Review of the Act is the best opportunity to make sure it can really deliver on community expectations.
