Marine Parks key to sustainable sea

The marine environment will benefit through dedicated marine parks Ms Pettett said.
Whilst these will be multiple use and will not preclude current uses throughout most of their area, Sanctuary Zones will be established to ensure the long term protection of breeding stocks. These zones are essential if we are to protect and preserve the health of our ocean ecosystems into the future she said.

CCSA notes concerns raised by some commercial fishers are misplaced. Displace effort provisions, ie compensation will apply.
