Hundreds brave the cold to come out to Victoria Square

Sunday 15 August saw the official launch of the Great Neighbourhood Walk at our annual Walk Against Warming rally at Victoria Square.

Our outstanding MC, Catherine Zengerer from Radio Adelaide and Safe Climate SA, rallied the crowd and led us through a line up of engaging and inspiring speakers including Conservation SA Ceo Julie Pettett, Judee Adams of Oxfam, David Noonan of ACF, Joel Dignam of AYCC and Peter Owen of the Wilderness Society.

The main action was a tug-of war - the people vs the polluters - to much cheering (for the people) and booing (for the polluters), which proved a lot of fun.

We would like to extend a special thanks to the outstanding musical talent that entertained on the day. The Irie Knights funked it up, setting the tone for the day, and Heather Frahn's extraordinary musical skills and devine songs mesmerised.

We had an unannounced visit from the climate change skeptics who came to spoil the fun. The Irie Knights, playing on stage at the time, helped calmed the somewhat tense situation by asking everyone to remain peaceful. The police kindly asked the skeptics to leave and the day's good vibe remained intact. Overall it was a great (if cold!) afternoon.
