1.           Conservation Council of SA Notices

 

1.1  The State of the Environment Report 2013

The EPA has released the State of the Environment Report 2013. It shows serious declines in our state's natural health.

Read the Conservation Council SA's response to the State of the Environment 2013.

We will be calling on responses and commitments from the political parties in the lead up to the State Election.

 

 

1.2 Conservation Councils of Australia - Our Living Heritage Document

The Conservation Councils of Australia have delivered their policy platform 'Our Living Heritage - National priorities for nature conservation, environmental protection and climate action in Australia' to the new Federal Government. The document outlines the priority actions that should be taken by the new Federal Government to create a safe, smart and secure country for every Australian and all living things.

1.3  The Coalition for Planning Reform

Conservation Council SA has formed an alliance with Community Alliance and National Trust (representing more than 120 member groups) to collaboratively campaign on our shared issues with the planning system in South Australia

1.6  Western Blue Groper - Results of Last Summer's Survey

Western blue groper are one of South Australia's most iconic reef fish.

Last summer Reef Watch volunteers undertook numerous surveys around SA to take a follow up snapshot to the last set of surveys in 2002-05.
Hear the results of the surveys, talk to western blue groper scientists and learn about the next set of surveys coming up this summer.

3.1 SA's Expert Panel on Planning Reform

Get involved in creating a new planning system for South Australia.

Over the next 18 months, an Expert Panel on Planning Reform is undertaking a comprehensive review of the current planning system. This involves reviewing all relevant legislation, governance and administrative arrangements related to planning, urban design and urban renewal.

Recommendations for a new planning system will be presented to Government and Parliament by December 2014.                  Further information

4.1  Urgently Seeking Volunteers to Grow Seedlings to Help South Australia's Environment

Trees For Life is looking for volunteers to grow native seedlings this summer.

Through the award-winning Tree Scheme, volunteers are asked to grow and care for the seedlings, for landholders and revegetation projects in SA

4.2  Home energy - how much do you use?

Borrow a Home Energy Tool Kit and find out more about how you are using energy at home. The tools and guide offer information and advice to help manage energy use, minimise costs and help the environment.

The Home Energy Toolkit is easy to use and free to borrow from local libraries.

 

4.3 The SA Government Energy Partners Program provides more information about saving energy at home, water heating and household appliances.

4.4 Walks For Nature with Nature Foundation SA

Sunday 20 October 8.30 for 9am and 9.30 for10am

A choice of three different walks from Bridgewater Oval following the Heysen Trail through Mount George Conservation Park to raise funds for conservation projects helping to Save, Protect and Restore South Australia's precious wildlife and environment.

4.6  Environmental Defenders Office SA Annual General Meeting

Members and supporters are invited to attend the EDO's AGM. Guest speakers will be documentary filmmakers Dan and Emma Monceaux of Danimations who will show excerpts from their soon to be released feature length film Cuttlefish Country which highlights the impact of mining activities on the Giant Cuttlefish.

4.9  The Australian Nuclear Free Alliance (ANFA)

Holding an annual meeting to bring together Aboriginal people and civil society groups from across Australia concerned about proposed or existing nuclear projects in Australia.
