Key role of Member Group:

Conserving the natural assets and ecological value of Aldinga Bay, its water catchment and its marine systems.

Key Achievements and Activities for 2008/09:

• Educating the public by giving numerous audio-visual presentations to a range of community groups both locally and in the city
• Disseminating information gathered from research and consultation of experts via a mixture of media:- letter, newsletter, leaflet, interview and exhibition
• Engaging in dialogue with Onkaparinga Council councillors and staff
• Petitioning for strongly-held beliefs and successfully changing opinions
• Lobbying for improvements to proposed civil projects and policies, e.g., management of the Washpool lagoon; reform of the by-laws
• Forming closer bonds with Friends of Aldinga Scrub, Reef Watch, Maslin Beach Coastcare, Birds Australia and the NRM Board
• Winning for our leader, Peter Laffan, a share of the Jill Hudson Award for effective advocacy within a conservation group
