Key role of Member Group:

To raise awareness of the need to protect and enhance the remnant dunes along Grange, Tennyson and Semaphore South coastline.

Key Achievements and Activities for 2008/09:

  • Achieved major modification to the proposed route of the sand transfer pipeline.
  • Originally this was to go through the middle of the dunes around Estcourt House and probably to be topped with a shared path (roadway big enough for light trucks)
  • Some progress in the change of mindset of some residents to replacing lawn encroachments with local native vegetation, by constant provision of information
  • Detailed submissions to government and local government proposals.

Identify three key environmental issues impacting on South Australia:

1. Increasing population

2. Climate change

3. Lack of comprehension by Governments about use and disposal of stormwater.
