Key role of Member Group: Managing five wildlife reserves containing habitat for locally indigenous species such as the southern hairy nosed wombat (on four of the reserves near Blanchetown) and the bare nosed wombat on Cullen reserve at Robe. The Society acquired more of Portee station containing wombat habitat recently and now has a reserve of 6900 hectares on which we estimate to have over 2000 shn wombats. We are always on the lookout for more donations to help run the reserves and if possible to acquire more habitat for native fauna and flora.

Key Achievements and Activities for 2008/09: Too busy managing reserves to have time for other activities other than letter writing. Reserve management issues include the need to bait for rabbits, remove foxes and cats and the ongoing campaign to rid our reserves of feral weeds. |
