 Key role of Member Group:

To promote and protect the biodiversity of the NE Hills (in the Mt Lofty Ranges) and to try to halt the deterioration of native vegetation particularly on roadsides and reserves in that area.

Key Achievements and Activities for 2008/09:

  • Continued with weed control on its bush care sites.
  • Planted locally indigenous plants.
  • Set about increasing co-operation between like minded environmental organizations in the NE Hills.

Identify three key environmental issues impacting on South Australia:

  • 1. Climate Change (particularly reduced water quality and quantity, increasing likelihood of species loss, bushfires and extreme weather events).
  • 2. Weeds

•3.     Ambiguous/inadequate legislation failing to protect indigenous flora and fauna, which is also suffering through a lack of enforcement of that legislation.
