MEDIA RELEASE 3 December 2009
The Walk Against Warming, the largest day of community action on climate change across Australia, will be held across Australia on Saturday 12 December 2009.
In Adelaide, the walk will start at 11am at Victoria Square/Tarndanyangga and finishes at Rymill Park/Murwillaburka.
Organised by the Conservation Council of South Australia (Conservation SA), SA's peak environment body, in partnership with other community groups, faith groups and unions, such as Make Poverty History, Get Up!, the Australian Conservation Foundation, the Wilderness Society, the Climate Institute and the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union.
"A strong turnout will remind our leaders that Australians care about climate change and demand strong action at home and internationally" said Libby King acting CEO of Conservation SA.
Our message to the Federal government and Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is clear: "we need an effective agreement in Copenhagen and a robust emissions trading scheme at home" said Ms King.
