Environment and community groups write an open letter to Prime Minister Rudd

Conservation SA joined other environment and community groups from throughout Australia, calling on Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd to apply an effective carbon price signal on greenhouse pollution. The groups also sought reassurance from the Prime Minister that funding for environment programs will be maintained at current levels or increased.

The Rudd government's recent announcement on the delay to an Emissions Trading Scheme, and reports about deep cuts to community-based environment programs, such as Caring for Our Country have led to Conservation SA joining other environment and community groups in writing an open letter to the Prime Minister.

In the letter these groups are urging the government to implement an effective carbon price signal by 2011.
