South Australians urge Senator Wong to act on climate change

Prime Minister Gillard's Cabinet met recently to revise its climate change policy and Conservation SA has sent petitions signed by South Australians to the Minister for Climate Change, Senator Wong outlining what this revision should look like.

"These petitions send a clear message to Senator Wong that there must be no delay in action on climate change and this means a carbon price solution," said Julie Pettett CEO of Conservation SA.

"Despite Prime Minister Gillard's indication that there will not be a price on carbon until at least 2013, many South Australians implore Senator Wong to do all she can to ensure that a price on carbon is thoroughly discussed and debated in Cabinet.

"If there is a failure to determine a price on carbon in the short term, whilst a huge disappointment, there are other actions that can be taken, such as further boosts to the renewable energy sector," said Ms Pettett.
