You are at the Natural Resources Management (NRM) site of ConservationSA. This site has been established to provide a wide range of information about Natural Resource Management including opportunities for community involvement in planning and delivery across the State.

Natural Resources Management (NRM) is the management of our natural resources which includes soil, water, landscapes, native vegetation, animals and ecosystems by anyone in the community. CCSA has a Natural Resource Management facilitator position funded through the state government, with the aim to better link community groups with NRM across the state.

NRM Report Launched at CCSA Conference

CCSA wants to see non-government organisations (NGOs) better engaged in natural resource management (NRM). In February 2009 we completed research on NGO engagement with NRM Boards in SA with a report called “NGO Engagement in SA NRM Regional Processes”. CCSA took on the challenge as a Peak body recognised under the state NRM Act 2004. Since then the key points from the research have been presented to the CCSA Council, The Minister for Environment & Heritage, the CE of DWLBC and the NRM Council. The findings identified that there can be significant barriers for conservation groups fully engaging in NRM processes.

Caring for Our Country Business Plan Information

In early December 2008 the Australian Government Caring for our Country Business Plan for 2009-2010 was released. The Australian Government is now calling for investment proposals for projects that will achieve the targets outlined in this business Plan. The closing date for submissions is 6 March 2009.
