Walk Against Warming
Saturday December 12th 11am start
Come and join in Australia's largest day of community action on climate change!
Meet at Victoria Square at 11am then walk to Rymill Park.
The Walk is taking place at the mid-point of the international climate change conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Conservation Council is looking to send a strong message to the Australian Government and the world, that we want a fair, binding and effective agreement signed, that will guarantee a safe climate, not condemn us to runaway climate change.
The new Walk website features a petition to sign that sends just this message.
Posters advertising the Walk are now available so if you're in town, please stop in and collect a few for your workplace, school, or to display in any other prominent location.
Sky Blue shoelaces are the 'signature ' of the Walk and can be purchased for $5 from CCSA beforehand from November 20th, at the Walk on the day or on-line from http://www.walkagainstwarming.org
For more information or to sign up as a volunteer please email WAW organiser Jamnes Danenberg on mailto:

A VISIT to WALLOWA at PALMER
Our recent visit to TUMBEELA NURSERY at VERDUN was so enjoyable we have now booked a second property visit.
The site is known as "Wallowa" Aboriginal word for the local Acacia."Wallowa" is private property owned by Mr and Mrs John Del Fabbro and set in an idyllic situation on the slopes of hills, within a 1500 acre property set aside as a private conservation park, some 3kms from the small town of Palmer.
Some of the species planted that will be of interest to our group are:
Quandong, Desert fig, Bush raisin, Sandalwood, Muntries, to name some.
Rainfall is 12 -15 inches or 350- 400 mm.
The plantings are some 6 years old - so still young.
New interesting species are added each year with a good range of rare native species added to increase biodiversity..
The site is a Dryland demonstration site where visitors can gain an insight to the suitable species, the ‘why’ and ‘how’ about developing their own dry land plantings..
We will be visiting WALLOWA and have booked a group tour of 20 people on a first come basis.
