This new economics report confirms the proposal for a nuclear waste storage facility in South Australia is too good to be true - the numbers and $$$ just don't stack up.

The Australia Institute's report Digging For Answers. Response to tentative findings: Radioactive waste storage and disposal facilities in South Australia pulls apart the economic modeling from the consultants used by the Royal Commission.

The leading economic think-tank finds "the business case for a nuclear waste storage facility in South Australia is exaggerated. The project is risky, and a loss overall is well within the range of possible outcomes."

The report was commissioned by the Conservation Council SA as a submission to the Nuclear Royal Commission, which will hand down its final report on 6 May.
