The Conservation Council of SA Inc (CCSA) is the peak body for non-government environment organisations in South Australia, representing 90,000+ people in more than 60 environment-related groups across SA. For more than 50 years, CCSA has been committed to protecting, restoring, and conserving South Australia's natural environment and advocating for a more sustainable future for our state.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Board, you will be responsible for providing visionary leadership and management, strategically driving CCSA's campaigns, programs, community, and media engagement activities, ensuring they align with the organisation's vision and goals. You will lead and direct staff, implement Board decisions, assist in the formulation of strategic plans and business generation activities, achieve budget surplus results and financial criteria, provide policy direction, and manage communications with stakeholders.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience
We are looking for an empathetic, strategic leader in environmental advocacy, with a passion for the South Australian environment and with prior experience reporting to a Board or Executive committee.
Tertiary qualifications are not essential but knowledge and understanding of current and emerging environmental issues are. Excellent negotiation, organisational and people management skills, combined with sound business acumen and financial abilities are essential. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and nurture relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Experience working in conservation and/or environmental protection is highly desirable, however not essential.
