Help us cross the finish line in the run to stop the dump
You've got to admit 2016 was an amazing year.
Things looked dire back in September. The dump plan seemed to have a real head of steam. The media were saying it was a done deal.
But we never gave up. We knew the concern from people like you about turning our beautiful home into the world’s dumpsite was real.
Since then we’ve had thousands protesting on the steps of Parliament House, heard the Citizen’s Jury slamming the plan, and with our friends at the Australian Conservation Foundation and a delegation of Aboriginal Elders we handed over a combined petition of 35,000 signatures opposing the dump to the Premier.
All this community pressure has had a huge impact.
We’re proud to say that your Conservation SA has been at the heart of much of it.
Despite overwhelming community pressure, Premier Weatherill has said he wants the ‘conversation’ to continue, with plans for a referendum sometime in the future.
We need you to join us in speaking until the Premier takes the cotton wool out of his ears and listens to the community he claims to represent.
And there's still work to do supporting the Adnyamathahna people in their fight against the federal government's national waste dump in the Flinders.
We're so close! Let's work together to bury this dump plan for good.
Thank you once again,
Craig and the rest of the Conservation SA team
PS We’ve poured our heart and soul and much of our campaigning fund into fighting the dump.
Now we’re this close, let’s finish the job!
