We’re calling for 1% of the federal budget
Right now, nature gets just 0.1% of the federal budget.
We've partnered with the 30 By 30 campaign and we’re calling for a fair go for nature: at least 1% of the federal budget invested in protecting the landscapes and wildlife that make this country what it is. At Conservation SA are proud to be part of a growing global movement to protect 30% of the world’s land and oceans by 2030 – and Australia has a crucial role to play.
Why this matters:
Here in South Australia, we have some of the most unique wildlife and ecosystems on the planet – from the River Murray and Coorong, to the Flinders Ranges.
But many of these natural places are in serious trouble.
-
Australia has the highest rate of mammal extinction in the world
-
17 ecosystems — including mangroves, forests and woodlands — are at risk of collapse
-
Climate change and habitat loss are accelerating the damage
Without urgent action, we stand to lose species and places forever.
The good news:
We already know how to protect nature. Scientists, Traditional Owners and local communities have the solutions — from restoring habitat to caring for Country and protecting threatened species.
They just need more funding. Investing just 1% of the federal budget would be transformational — creating healthier landscapes, stronger communities and a future where nature can recover.
That’s why we’re calling for 1% for nature
A small share of the budget. A massive impact for our country. Conservation SA is working to secure 1% for nature and protect 30% of our land and seas by 2030. By joining this campaign, you’ll be part of a growing movement – and we’ll show you clear, practical ways to take action and make a real difference.
Stay connected and be part of the 1% for nature campaign. Together, we can give nature the fair go it deserves.
