On Monday 27 March more than 250 people packed into the Braggs Lecture Theatre at Adelaide Uni to hear energy expert Giles Parkinson speak about South Australia's energy story.
Giles Parkinson is one of Australia's most respected and popular clean energy commentators. So who better to unpack and make sense of an extraordinary couple of weeks in energy in SA - a period that included Elon Musk tweeting with the Prime Minister and the Premier on battery storage, the release of the State Government's energy plan, and the 'Josh vs Jay' stoush.
The thing we like best about Giles is his bullish confidence in the inevitable rise of renewable energy (a confidence that has proved fiercely accurate despite the numerous doomsayers in the media and in Canberra) and his fascination with what is happening in our state.
As Giles says: South Australia is a genuine world leader. What happens here matters, therefore, we have a big responsibility to get it right. Having smart people share the latest information and insight into what's happening is incredibly useful.
