TrailRider makes nature accessible

Nature is for everybody!

TrailRider is an all-terrain wheelchair that allows people with limited mobility to explore SA's incredible environment.

In 2018 Conservation SA offered its TrailRider on extended loan to the District Council of Yankalilla to help their community explore the diverse trails of the Fleurieu Coast. The TrailRider is a one-wheeled chair – a cross between a wheelbarrow and sedan chair – that requires trained helpers to move it across a variety of terrains (though an internal motor can help with the tougher tracks!).

On its first official outing, the Grant family (pictured here) took the TrailRider out for a spin along the Boat Harbour Trail in Deep Creek Conservation Park.

Conservation SA is thrilled to provide this purpose-built piece of equipment to the City of Yankalilla to help make our beautiful environment accessible to more South Australians.
