Who speaks for the trees?

On Monday 11 November Conservation SA hosted a Public Forum: 'Who Speaks for the Trees' Forum.

Around 150 passionate community members, politicians, policy-makers and members of the environment sector packed the Joinery to hear expert speakers on the planning and native vegetation rules that currently exist and how they could be improved.

There was a lot of passion in the room, and no wonder: the loss of so many trees is devastating, and it was clear from last night's discussion that our current rules and other protections are failing us.

The presenters have kindly agreed to share their presentations from the night. We also live-streamed the event, so here is a link to a recording if you want to watch and listen again:

But that's not the end - it's just the beginning. The next critical step: if we don't like the rules, we need to step up and try to change them.

On Monday 18 November, Conservation SA hosted a follow-up gathering next week of people who want to do something about the ongoing loss of trees. Stay tuned for the outcomes of this meeting and the next critical steps in our campaign to protect South Australia's significant trees.
