Are you one of SA's nature champions?

Nominations are now open for the 2019 SA Environment Awards!

Each year the Awards celebrates South Australia's nature champions in four categories: Young Achiever, Unsung Hero, Lifetime Achievement and the Jill Hudson Award for Environmental Protection.

Since 1998 the Awards have recognised some of South Australia's most inspiring conservationists, activists, campaigners and volunteers working to protect our precious flora, fauna and nature places.

The Jill Hudson Award for Environmental Protection – now in its 21st year – is awarded to South Australians who have made an outstanding contribution to protecting the state’s environment. Anti-nuclear and land rights campaigner Sue Coleman Haseldine, the River, Lakes and Coorong Action Group and the community campaigners behind the Repower Port Augusta movement are just some of the inspiring past winners.

Rising stars of the conservation sector are honoured with the annual Young Achiever Award, and the Unsung Hero Award recognises our state's quiet achievers who work tirelessly behind the scenes on behalf of our environment.

The SA Environment Awards also honour those who have made an indelible impact on our environment through a lifetime of work. Past Lifetime Achievement honourees have included environment legend Warren Bonython AO, renewable energy pioneer Monica Oliphant AO, anti-nuclear activist and respected Yankunytjatjara Elder Yami Lester OAM and shark conservationist Rodney Fox.
