Submission on SA's Mining Act review

Conservation Council SA welcomes the opportunity to provide a submission to the review of the Mining Act 1971 (SA) by the Department for Energy and Mining. Private mines have long enjoyed unnecessary exemptions for native vegetation clearance under the Native Vegetation Act, as well as lower environmental requirements.

We therefore strongly support the proposed regulatory reform of private mines to align their environmental requirements to align with the regulation of other mines in our State, and as soon as reasonably practicable.
