Two significant eucalyptus trees at Leabrook have been saved!

Some Great News - two significant eucalyptus trees at Leabrook, that were under threat of removal have been saved!!

These two, healthy, 100 year old river red gums were under threat because of possible slight damage to a near by building. The trees are great assets to the local community, wildlife and the environment and provide much needed shade at an otherwise barren and hot site.

Congratulations to all involved in this 11th hour fight!! CCSA found out just 5 days prior to a Burnside Council Assessment Panel meeting - we held a snap rally and wrote to the Burnside Councillors. Thanks to Jane Davey, Burnside Councillor, who fought hard to retain the trees, as well as the local community and the Burnside CAP.

Although the tree laws have gone a long way in tackling the issue of urban tree loss, there’s still more to do. Please stay engaged and spread the word...
Together we can, together we must, continue to speak up for our trees. The fight to save out precious trees continues.
